I am a historian of humanitarianism currently working on a doctoral thesis that examines international relief to displaced persons in Central Asia in late Imperial Russia and the early Soviet Union. I examine how humanitarian relief was organised and practised in this specific historical context through the study of different groups of displaced persons, including refugees, prisoners of war and victims of famine.
