Research interests focus on issues concerning Central Asian/Inner Asian/Eurasian Studies including the geopolitics in the region; history, culture and politics of Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, Central Asia and Asiatic Russia; Mongolian foreign and security policy as well as its international relations with ‘proximate’ (Russia and China) and ‘third’ neighbours (particularly the U.S., India and Japan).
