My research interests lay at the intersection of authoritarianism, culture and political theory in post-Soviet states with a particular focus on the Central Asian Republics. Specifically, his research concerns two areas: the formal and informal institutional basis of support for authoritarian rule; and the construction and contestation of nation-building policies and discourses.
