Current research project is related to area of democratization processes in Central Asia with particular focus on Kazakhstan, its power transition and the meaning for the region. As part of Eurasian program at CCEIS, HSE University, Zhiyenbayev's work related to integration studies and Eurasian integration processes with focus on Central Asian states' engaging policies and models to EAEU.
