About Me:

Education & Training

My main area of research since the early 1990s is the transformation processes going on in the region since the end of the socialist regimes. I studied local procedures, economic adaptations and social strategies to this in Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Other themes I investigated included ethnic identity and distinctions as well as migration processes, in particular the motives and integration of the Kazak diasporas from Mongolia.
