In my research I enquire into the role of culture in the European Union’s and Russia’s relations with the post-Soviet space, and particularly with Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). My project advances a comparative framework involving (1) the study of how the European Union and Russia construct discursively their cultural diplomacies and relations in the region, and (2) the translation of these discursive constructions into local practices.
