Borderers in the Mainland – 邊民在內地

The first part of this book is mainly concerned with the activities of frontier ethnic groups that were incorporated into the territory of the Qing Dynasty, their thoughts and actions, their public and private exchanges with the mainland, and their active or passive migration into the mainland. Their experiences and their fate with the changes of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China; the oral history of the second part vividly records the life of a person in Taiwan and Xinjiang and their interaction with China. These not only reflect the original multiculturalism of the frontier and the mainland, but also show the heterogeneous culture introduced in modern times.
