This book provides a linguistic analysis of Central Asia. The first part assesses the four Turkic Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan; the other explores Tajikistan, whose main ethnic group speaks East Iranian. The book reviews the historical changes of the Central Asian nations from ancient times to the present.
